  • How much bandwidth is needed per user in a terminal server environment?

Just wondering if anyone has figures that they use for bandwidth allowance in a terminal server environment?

I have always gone on the basis of allowing around 75kbps per user - for a standard setup with just the office suite, internet access and so on.

I watched a webinar yesterday and the presenter was saying that vmware (A technology I dont use) recommend 125kbps, and this particular company were allowing for 250kbps - but they were using heavy design software.

Just interested to hear other peoples experiences?

      Hi,

In case of Windows 2012 R2 you can use less then 50-60 kb per session.
However, the following settings may impact the bandwidth requirements:

      a. Using a mapping drive.
      b. Graphics (you can use RemoteFX for this tasks).
      c. Remote device mapping (e.g. USB etc.)
