  • Implement Thin Client with RDP.

    Hi,

I'm interested in implementing a network of 40 computers which will boot from the network and connect with RDP to Win 2003 TS as Thin clients. I have the licenses fot the CAL's and PXE enabled network cards. The "thin clients" are regular old PC's. My questions are:

    1. What software is needed on the thin client's in order to boot and launch rdp client.

    2. From where is the thin client is booted? Is it some linux server?

    Thanks.

Re: Implement Thin Client with RDP.

There are plenty of Linux open source software which allows connectivity via RDP. They normally get their image from a TFTP server which can either be linux or windows (I remember seeing a document on how to configure a windows TFTP server)

This might be of some use to you as well - Dont think its releease untill next year sometime:

Thanks for the reply, but your solution is not very clear. I'm looking for a slightly more detailed and explained solution.

      Thanks.

        Google is your friend :

I found PXES pretty good but was quite difficult to get the display working decent enough but you might have better luck

They also tell you how to set it up on a windows only environment:

          Hi,

          You can use:

          http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

          * You mat need to obtain Windows XP license to each machine.

          Linux boot disk:

Sometimes its more easy to buy "Extreme PC" thin client (cost ~300$ instead
          from working with old pcs..
