  • New Mail Icon on Terminal Server

I have a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 terminal server with Outlook 2007. There is TS lockdown GP in force. I would like users to see the envelope icon in the tray indicating new/unread mail. Is that doable? Thank you very much.

Did the access to the taskbar is blocked by using GPO?

Duh, yes there is. Hide the notification area Enabled I have no excuse for that. <cough> What are the risks of disabling it?

There can be a few known issues:

          1. If the users have a local admin permissions, they can change the server time.

          2. Some software/program settings can be change by openning them. I recommanded to avoid showing the users this program/s icon/s.
