  • Terminal Server 2003 and spiking svchost.

I have a 2003 terminal server with about 45 Wyse Thin clients logging into it. The server has 4 GB of RAM and dual 2.33GHz Xeon's.

I have noticed that when all the users are logged on, svchost.exe will spike the CPU up to about 50%. It is constant. It will go from 4% up to 50% all day long. I know that terminal services uses svchost, but is this normal?

as a troubleshooting tool you could run procexplore and see what child processes svchost spawns at the time.

I did run this, and it seems to be terminal services. I just wanted to make sure this would be normal.
