  • Need some guidence about Win 2008 terminal services

Hello im an IT manager at a college in south israel.

one of our computer classes is very old and we think to work on a terminal service 2008

i setted up the server 2008 with group policy for students. the problem is i cant seems to find a good thin client for X86 computers because i dont want to use windows for the client because for old dieing computers windows is not stable as linux.

allso i definied a user called TS-Student and it log on the the server and get his desktop correctly the problem is when i connect to the terminal from other computer with the same user the first computer disconnects from the session.

what are my options to use the same username for all the computers ? or to duplicate profiles to Alot of users.

    thanks.

    Hi,

    1. You can change the session limit in:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...f-c0e473ed8188

or just in the local TS configurations.

    2. MS based thin clients usually working fine... You can check ChipPC / Big products.

I think OP wants to continue to use the old, dying hardware as thin clients, but windows is not reliable on them.

essentially he wants something like Citrix ICA Client, but for Windows Terminal Services.
It must run on a linux platform

      am I on track ?

Hello, you could try thinstation, or use windows xp combined with steadystate.
Personally, I would give each student its own account.

            thin station looks great thanks.

i cant create a user for every person. it not that kind of a college every hours there's a random student on the computer it's students come and go for few hours and leave.

              Tiny Core Linux http://www.tinycorelinux.com/
is very lightweight and there is an RDP client available in the repository.
