  • Changing TSWEB Domain?

    Hi everyone,

Now I know that this question has probably been answered before, but I can't find anything on it.

I have just setup TS Web Access inside of terminal services inside a Windows Server 2008 box and I was wondering how (and if it's possible) to change the default domain name from localhost/ts to something like remote.domain.com?

Do I need to change something within DNS or IIS?

If it can't be done, then thats ok.

    Thanks,
    Magic 112

Do you like to change the logon page of the TSWEB or just the FQDN that users use for logon?

I am looking to change the FDQN so users can access it at remote.mycompany.com

        Re: Changing TSWEB Domain?

You can try to change the DNS settings on the DNS side so your would point to the required FADN. Also, if the TSWEB are using SSL, you may need to obtain a SAN certificate for it (This can be done from Microsoft CA or third party):

        http://nl.globalsign.com/en/ssl+certificates/san/

The SAN certificate should point to all optional access to the server (e.g. http://server. http://server.domain.local, http://remote.domain.com etc.)

          Re: Changing TSWEB Domain?

Thanks for the answers, I managed to change the settings within DNS and apply a redirect with an aspx script.

          One more question,

Is it possible to connect straight to a computer through RDP by typing in the name i.e. server01.mycompany.com and connecting straight to it instead of having to type in the IP address, or is this another thing to do with DNS?

          Thanks,

            Re: Changing TSWEB Domain?

If you can connect to server X by using IP, most of the time you can access it with correct DNS record that point to this IP.
