  • Citrix XenApp 5 WI 4.5 Problems accessing externally

    Hello,

I have fully installed Citrix on server 2003 32bit.

Citrix is currently running in a test environment. The WI runs fine internally but not externally.

I do not want to purchase a certificate so im wondering if it's possible to somehow set this up without a certificate.

If not, i'll create my own test certificate and try.

Now, i have seen how people set things up, but there are certain things i dont understand how they got.

First, i dont understant how they got their STA Secure Ticket Authority, and how they got their FQDN fully qualified domain name.

My citrix WI is running fine, but as mentioned not externally, users receive errors that server is not found or available, or that it's not accessible.

Anyone have good step by step instructions on how to set each one up?

    I've looked through http://www.virtualizationadmin.com/a...way-part2.html

But i dont know how they got the STA and the FQDN. I'm new to Citrix so ste by step guide would be helpful.

Thanks for the reply, but that didn't help at all. It's my first time setting up a Citrix Server, ive tried the secure gateway, but still dont know where FQDN and STA came from. Also wondering if this can be set up without purchasing a certificate.

Suppose that customers have to access to https://ctx.mydomain.com

You need to create a certificate request with the FQDN as “common name” attribute: ctx.mydomain.com (This can be done via the IIS -> Default Web Site -> Security).
Then send the request file to the CA and obtain a public key (with exportable private key). Then import via the IIS the certificate and reset the IIS.
You may need to add the root CA of your company to the trust root CA in each computer/server (The a common issue if you are using a Stand Alone CA and/or
        Servers/computer in workgroup).
