  • Corrupt Citrix/TS profiles

    Hi,

I have a 5 server Windows 2000 Server Citrix farm with about 125 users. My terminal server profiles are stored on our dc/file server in a folder named \\servername\profiles\username. Over the past few months, we have had probably 50% of our users receive a corrupt profile error when logging into their Citrix desktop, randomly. As far as I can tell the problem is not isolated to a specific server or user group and has been occurring 1 or 2 at a time for the last probably 2-3 months. Everything will appear to be working just fine for all other users (no noticably increased slowness or anything) except for the 1 or 2 users that are affected that day. I have increased the registry size on all 5 citrix servers and the dc/file server to 300MB to eliminate the possibility of an undersized registry, but I'm running out of ideas to solve this problem and it has become a major source of frustration for both myself and all our users. Any help available would be appreciated.

    Re: Corrupt Citrix/TS profiles

Please backup all the server and install:

    1. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

    2. All Citrix hotfixes or/and use Citrix 4.0.

    3. Verity stable connection to the file server.

If the problem would return please add information on the OS + Citrix + Clients version.

    Regards,

    Yuval

      Re: Corrupt Citrix/TS profiles

Stable connection to file server is not a problem, the file server and citrix servers are on the same lan and the file server is running 1000mbps. All Citrix servers currently have UPH Cleanup installed and have for some time.

We had Citrix v. 4.0 but had to revert back to 3.0 because the security of 4 made us reinstall the Groupwise (i know, i know...) client every morning just to get it to work. 4.0 is not an option for us right now.

All Citrix servers are Win2K servers running Metaframe 3.0 server. The clients mostly use ICA v. 9.0 but some are still running 7 & 8. No link between client version and profile corruption has been established, as it has been happening on users no matter what version client they run.

I hope that sheds some light on the problem...

        Re: Corrupt Citrix/TS profiles

There option to use "compatibility mode" to run old application or problmatic application on Citrix...
The next step is to find out if the antivirus support terminal server and if eliminate the antivirs from scanning the the profile directory help.
Please note that you need to exculde also the scan of network drive becuase
if you enable it the server that host the profiles for example and the remote profile may scan the same files/directories in the same time.
Also, if you are using Novell client please upgrade to the latest version.
        And last, please review:

          Re: Corrupt Citrix/TS profiles

I have made an exclusion for the c:\documents and settings folder in my anti-virus real-time scan settings. We'll see how this works.

When we upgraded from MF XP to MF 4.0 we tried to set compatibility mode for Groupwise on our published desktop, but didn't have any luck. Every morning the application would stop functioning, we would have to reinstall the client and then it would work all day, until the next morning. When we reverted the servers back to MF 3.0 everything started working normally again. I don't plan to go back to MF 4.0 until we migration from Groupwise to Exchange.

I had another corrupt profile this morning... I don't think the profile exclusion on anti-virus is working.

                  Re: Corrupt Citrix/TS profiles

Please check that the users own the ocrrect right to C:, C:\Documents and Settings etc.
Also, please run scandisk and hardware Diagnostic tool for the hard disk and the Raid/Adapter.
If the problem return, it will be wise to contact the local Microsoft support center. The price of support call is ~250$ but I think that it may help you to solve this issue.

                    Re: Corrupt Citrix/TS profiles

                    Hi,

We are experiencing exactly the same problem as emjtech described in this thread. We get the same three errors logged, as described in the first post.

We only have 2 citrix servers in a farm, running on Windows 2000 SP4.

We were looking at diagnosing and fixing the errors we received at login, regarding corrupt ntuser.dat - "ACCESS DENIED" type errors. So we removed the TSprofiles path and roaming profile path from the users account in active directory (a domain admin account with local admin on both citrix servers) and we still get the same problem!

The problem only affects some users when they connect to one particular server and another bunch of users on the other server. It never affects the same user on both servers.

                    emjtech, did you solve this?

                    Mike.
