  • TS Gateway logiin issue Ts Web via

Hi Guys I'm hoping you can help

I'm trying to setup Windows 2008 standard server SP1 Using TS web and TS Gateway to allow selected home users to connect to our terminal servers on our internal lan using the remote desktop Tab in the webpage rather than the rdp client.

The idea being they can access the terminal servers via the remote desktop tab on the TS web page from just about anywhere the have web access without needing an rdp client.

So far I've installed and configured the TS web role and set it up to connect to the ts gateway in the ASP.net application settings. I've also setup the TS gateways TS_Cap & TS_Rap policies on the same 2008 server and setup up and imported an ssl certifcate.

To make sure the TS gateway and the policies were working using an winxp client with sp3 installed, I tried to connect to one of our terminal servers via an rdp client.

I set the client to us ntlm as the login method and to use my ts gateway credentials to log me on the the remote computer.

When I tried to connect a login box came up and I was asked to provide my domain login details which would be used to authenticate me against both the TS gatway server and the remote server.

Once entered my details I was able to login to the remoter server and I could see the active session in the TS Gateway monitoring console which is exactly what I wanted.

I then tried to use the TS web remote desktop to do the same, however when I used the remote desktop tab to connect to one of our terminal servers it connected straight through to the terminal server.

I did not get the login box that asks me to provide a login that will be used to connect to the remote computer and the TSgateway as I did using the RDP client.

I did get a window showing the certificate and the name of the TS Gateway I'm connecting to, also when I am connected through the remote desktop tab on the TS webpage I cannot see any session listed in the TS Gateway monitoring console.

I've configured the asp.net to use the gateway server which it seems to find however even though I've configured the "GatewayCredentialsSoure" to ask for NTLM authentication by setting the value to "0" & "4" but I'm still not being asked for any passwords.

Has anyone come across this before or have I set this up incorrectly?

The attachment below is the login box I get when using the RDP client when configured to use the TS gateway and is what I'm trying to get the TS web remote desktop connection to present before making the connection to whatever server I choose.

    Thanks in advance

Well I suppose I asked for that

I've installed sp2 (DOH) however I still have the same issue as before though.

Would it be a good idea to remove and re-apply the roles after installing sp2?

SP2 fixed a lots a known issues so its very recommanded to have it.
Now, you will need to check the firewall/roles settings.
You usually not need to uninstall and install roles after service pack.
