  • windows cannot connect to a licensing server

We have some clients that are getting the following message:

The remote session was disconnected because there are no Terminal Server client access licenses available for this computer. Please contact the server administrator.

It seems sporadic though, and while some people will happily connect to the terminal server, others cannot. If I try and use terminal server licensing from my local computer then I can manually connect to the license server.

If I try and connect to the license server from the terminal servers, it says it cannot connect - they can both see each others fileshares and ping etc.

On the license server, I have the following setup:

    Name: DC01
    Activation status: Activated

Existing Windows 2000 server CAL token (per device): unlimited (23 issued)
Temporary licenses Windows server 2003 CAL token (per device): - (30 issued)
Windows server 2003 - TS per device CAL: 450 (126 issued) volume license

Can anyone offer any advice why this is happening?
