  • Issue with Office 2007 on a Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise Terminal Server

When a flash drive inserted into the thin client, it appears properly in My Computer as \\tsclient\D and can be appears to be fully funcional with the exception of an issue with Microsoft Office 2007. Office will open a document, but gives an error when saving directly to the flash drive.

"There has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may be lost. (\\tsclient\D\doc.doc)"

    Ctrl+Shift+I reveals error 200932.

I have seen related kb articles including 291156 and 960498, but the only option is to save locally and then copy to the flash drive.

I can save the file to a standard network share and than copy it to the flash drive, but I cannot save to the flash drive directly.

Mapping to a drive letter does not help.

Formatting the flash drive as NTFS poses new issues and is not feasible.

I have attempted disabling antivirus (McAfee) and Windows Search related services.

I would appreciate the assistance as this is for an elementary school and it is causing a lot of frustration for the teachers and students.

Do you use Office 2007 SP2?

As mentioned above, I did look at that kb. It is O2K7 SP2. I'm looking for a fix as the workaround is too tedious for young students to follow.

Please contact Microsoft PSS. I found some hotfix for this issue - but I dont allowed to post it, due NDA restriction.

Mean while, try to use the latest RDP client version.

Can you provide a kb or hotfix number? Will I have to pay for the call to PSS?

I already downloaded hotfix 960498, but it is only for XP.

Feel free to Email me directly.

As I said before, the iformation is under NDA.
Its seems like a bug so you can request from MS to get a free PSS call...

PSS won't give me the time of day unless I provide a hotfix number.

                Hi,

You will need to open a offical support case in the PSS.

I found this item in MSDN Technet:

                  Article ID: 936970 - Last Review: May 21, 2008 - Revision: 4.1
Error message when you work in a Terminal Services session and save a document in a 2007 Office program to a redirected drive: "There has been a network or file permission error"

I downloaded and applied the hotfix (and rebooted). The initial test failed, but I will have to look at it again after chag.
