  • Strange Windows 2008 Terminal Server Issue

    I have a terminal server configured running x64 Windows 2008 running Outlook 2007 SP1.

Strange problem is a connection issue with Outlook to one of the Exchange 2007 servers, users that are configured to use Exchange1 are experiencing horrendously slow connection times to Outlook (works perfectly on other Citrix/TS servers), however users configured to use Exchange2 connect fine, no lag.

Both exchange servers are at the same build level and the fact that the users connect ok on other servers is pointing me to an issue with 2008 connecting to this particular exchange server.

    Anyone seen anything similar?

Are the other TS servers running the same OS etc?

Are both Exchange servers running the same OS etc?

We need more detail from you if we're to be able to help you.

Re: Strange Windows 2008 Terminal Server Issue

      Ok some more detail:-

      TS1 - Windows 2008 x64
      TS2 - Windows 2003 x86 SP2

      Exchange1 - Windows 2003 x64 SP2, Exchange 2007 SP1
      Exchange2 - Windows 2003 x64 SP2, Exchange 2007 SP1

Some further investigation has shown me the following:-

      User1 mailbox on Exchange1
Connects to TS1 - Outlook 2007 extremely slow at loading
Connects to TS2 - Outlook loads without issue
Connects to local machine works without issue

      User 2 on Exchange2
Connects to TS1 - Outlook loads without issue
Connects to TS2 - Outlook loads without issue
Connects to local machine works without issue

So I ran with Outlook /rpcdiag on several boxes, results show that the average response time to Exchange1 on the TS1 server is horrendous (3090), whereas average response to Exchange1 on TS2 was 0 and average response to Exchange2 on TS1 was 0 - so I believe I have a RPC comms issue between the 2008 server and one of the Exchange servers, I just can't think where to go to resolve.
