  • DLT Tape drive

Thank you guys for the all the answers you provide, they are real helpful.

I have one HP ml 350 with HP dlt 40/80 drive, this tape drive has been behaving very badly in 2 days, all tapes inserted are being ejected and it reports bad media, this is hapenning to almost 10 tapes then I become alarmed.

    What could be the problem?

    Please help

    already cleaned the drive?
already replaced the tape with a new one?
    isn't the drive broken?

      dlt tape

I am confused, since all logs reports bad media rather than tape drive problem.

      Thanks.

it can also be unusuable media.
so start cleaning it.. test the tape on an other drive (if present), etc

which backup software are you using?

Please use a new media and check if it help.
Also,if you are using Win 2003 upgrade (you must) to Veritas 9.1 at least (current version 10).
Also, try to upgrade the drive and server firmware + BIOS.
Verity that there no temination problem and you use correct SCSI
            cable from HP.

            Good Luck.
