  • Different connection addresses

Does anyone know if you setup the slow dialup connection in the UK on a laptop at one place, can the same connection still be used at another address using a different phone line? Likewise if you setup a broadband connection at one address if it will still work at another address on a different phone line?

    Re: Different connection addresses

Dialup should work on any pstn line as you dial a certain number and connect. DSL is line specific so only works on the line it was provisioned on.

No probs. Usually all you will need is the telephone number and the username and password if you just want internet access. If you want the email etc setup then there are more details. CD's tend to install loads of other things to "customise" the machine and can be more trouble than they are worth. I would be suprised if many ISPs didn't stilll offer dialup though so you should be ok.
