  • Windows Installer error

    Hi, folks.

I am trying to install a program on a terminal server.

However, I am getting the following error:

"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode or if the windows installer is not correctly installed.
Contact your support personnel for assistance"

I have run the install form the add/remove programs panel, and I have also put the server into install mode from the command line.

    Can anyone help ?

    Many thanks,

    Neil

    Re: Windows Installer error

    Have you tried ?
I searched your error message: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...be+accessed%22
And this was the first hit: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315346
Take a look and let us know the outcome.

      Re: Windows Installer error

      Hi, Sorin.

From a command prompt, in system32, I typed:

      msiexec /regserver

That did the trick, and it was about half way doen the article you found.

      Many thanks,

      Neil

        Re: Windows Installer error

I am glad it solved the problem.
But I will really feel that I accomplished something if you'll be able to find the solution by yourself next time I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of us.
