  • Component not available error for Office apps (was: Office 2003)

    Hello,

I was fighting with GPO the wrong way.

I just notice using office as a user on my test environement on the Terminal service brings me to a dialog saying : "Component not available" for any Office application.

I've done it using the information from microsoft, by adding programs from control panel and using the default installation.

    I'm using Office 2003 on a Terminal Server 2003 in a 2003 domain.

    Any clue?

    Thank you!

edit : I forgot to mention nothing appears in the event viewer...

Try to run Office under a user without restrictions (not Administrator, but the same user without the GPO restrictions on it) and see what's going on. If it's not working, try the Administrator account, maybe the installation was faulty.
Good luck and keep the forum posted.

Sorry... this is all my fault.

I ran all this in a test environement and then did not activate the MS products. Once done, everything runs fine.

Sorry again for that dumb question

There's no such thing "dumb question". Just patronizing answer...
