  • Terminal Services Licencing / Citrix Access

    Hi there,

I am having trouble with my Citrix server, its a Win 2000 server running Citrix metafram 1.8 for Windows 2000. It's logging multiple errors about licencing and what I believe is causing connection problems for a couple of my users.

    Errors:

Originally it started as below, but we had an issue with DNS which has now been resolved so this may no longer apply?:

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: TermService
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1010
    Date: 05/09/2006
    Time: 07:34:57
    User: N/A
    Computer:
    Description:
The terminal services could not locate a license server. Confirm that all license servers on the network are registered in WINS\DNS, accepting network requests, and the Terminal Services Licensing Service is running.

    But now it's just:

    Event Type: Information
    Event Source: TermService
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1003
    Date: 05/09/2006
    Time: 16:00:37
    User: N/A
    Computer:
    Description:
The terminal service client '%1' has provided an invalid license.

    &

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: TermService
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1004
    Date: 05/09/2006
    Time: 16:02:31
    User: N/A
    Computer:
    Description:
The terminal server cannot issue a client license.

The trouble is we recently had a DC failure and I am not sure where the licences originally existed, I can only assume on the failed DC perhaps which has caused all of these errors?

Do I need to have the terminal services licence service running on the Citrix server too? As it's installed now on the remaining DC but not configured, and my last question, is terminal services licening different to Citrix licencing and is this the cause of the Unix users not being able to connect to the server? (Incidently some users can connect ok, there are two that cannot at the moment)

Any help / advice would be appriciated.

    Thanks

I can guess that the TS License server was installed on the DC.

      Hi,

Thanks for that article, I believe the licence server is installed at domain level not enterprise, I'll be able to confirm this tomorrow though, but I think the main problem is that I need to get the licence server installed / sorted on the new DC, but not sure of how to go about this...

      Cheers

Re: Terminal Services Licencing / Citrix Access

You will need to install TS License server and reactivate the TS Licenses.
After this, verity that the TS server can "see" the TS Licenses (you may need to reboot it).

          Hi,

Thanks, i've got the TS server activated now, think i'll need to do this though for the Citrix server to see the new licence server: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239107/en-us.
