  • Software Recommendation

    Hello All-

Looking for recommendations in regards to a system/hardware management software for a small Microsoft environment. Switches are all Dell. I want to be able to monitor everything, update services, compliance and just have a full view of everything.

Try spiceworks in the first instance -- price is hard to beat
Use WSUS for your updates -- again a very good price!

I'd definitely agree with using WSUS for you updates but I prefer Nagios to Spiceworks (possibly because I've spent more time on Nagios).

I see Spiceworks is free. Sounds too good to be true almost.

          As is Nagios

There's quite a lot of opensource monitoring software out there if you have a look around. Most them will equal if not beat the expensive closedsource software packages out there though you might have to do some thinking and tweaking. Either way .... enjoy!

Spiceworks looks a little more user friendly but I will look into both. As long as I can see and manage everything from my workstation, I will be happy.
