  • MOM see SQL2005 while 2000 is installed

    Hi
    i've just installed MOM 2005.
i've loaded the packs for SQL 2005 and 2000 successfully.
however, i keep getting errors about WMI namespace and a script for 2005 that can't be executed:
The "Microsoft SQL Server" management pack failed to execute the SQL Server 2005 Database Health script successfully.

    i don't have 2005 on these servers!
i excluded the servers from SQL 2005 group and included them on 2000
i disabled the alert of db health on this group, but i still get the errors

    what is going on???

    thanks

    Hey,

But what I understand you seem to have permissions problems.
it seems that your action account does not have permissions to run script on the specified agents or lacks specific SQL permissions to run.

to debug the problem, insert the MOM action account into local administrator on the SQL server and see if that solves the issue.

      but why it shows 2005??
and what is exactly MOM action account?
the account i use to start the service is in the domain "Administrators" group. The SQL has mixed authentication.

There's no such thing as the domain "Administrators" group - this is a local group on each computer and server. Do you mean Domain Admins?

Ok then, there is not one by default.

I suspect you are looking at the Builtin container in ADUC - that contains groups that are local to the DC.

Is it SQL 2000 you are using for the MOM database?

Do you have any other software on the monitored server(s) that may use either MSDE or SQL Express, such as Sophos AV, Backup Exec etc?

I can't suggest any else to use because it is the best one to use. There is no other alternative of this.
