  • Excluding certain files from my folder redirection policy

    Hi Guys,

I've got what i think is a fairly straight forward question. Basically we have an all Windows Server 2003/XP network. We have a GPO in place which redirects the users My Documents folder to a location on the network, there are no roaming profiles in place. All i want to do is to stop the policy from synchronizing certain files, mostly media such as .JPG, .MP3 etc. Having had a bit of a play about i'm guessing the easiest way to do this is to prevent caching of these files in the Computer Settings => Network => Offline Files => Files not cached setting, will this work?

    Regards

Folder redirection and synchronization are two total different things.
There is no way to exclude certain files from redirection.
You could redirect Application Data, Desktop, My Documents and Start Menu.
Certain files could not be excluded.
Offline files mean that a network share is made available even if you are not connected to the network. In this case, certain files could be excluded from caching.
