  • Ensure a file on the users' desktop is up to date.

As per the post here (http://forums.petri.com/showthread.php?t=67083), I now have a GPO which copies a PDF file to the users' workstation.

What happens when the file is updated on the domain controller? It will have the same name just different contents and considering the GPO uses the UPDATE action.

    Thanks.

In group policy preferences, is it set to create, update, or replace?

You'll need to change it to replace for the file to get updated. Note that replace requires more processing time each time policy is applied.

Why not use preferences to put a shortcut on the desktop instead of the file itself?

Also, do you really have file shares in your NETLOGON folder? I would plan on moving shares out of that location to a different share (can be on the same server if you like) at some point.
