  • Set Firefox as default

I have read quite a few tutorials on setting a default browser but I don't like most of them. We are running FrontMotion Firefox which has control to ask the user to set it as default at first run. I want to tell Windows (7) to always set Firefox as default.

So far my favorite method it to use GPP: User Config > Preferences > Control Panel Settings > Folder Options and create an "Open With" item. This works great for DOCX, XLSX and TXT etc. but it doesn't work for URL. I think this is because if you go to 'Control Panel' > 'Default Programs' > 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program' and scroll down, there is a "Protocols" section that breaks the the URLs into sections. See pic:
(I take that back - I cannot post images until I have made 5 posts or more.)

I want to know how to modify these (specifically HTTP). Has anyone else done this?
    Thanks
    Duncan

    Re: Set Firefox as default

There may be other ways, but it looks as if it can be done by registry key (rolled out via GPPs)
