  • gpresult from workstations takes long

    Hi,
gpresult from xp workstation takes 5+ minutes.
the xp is test machine on the Hyper-v host. DC is on the same host.
DNS and logon server on xp are correct (DC described above).

Netstat shows right DC when run gpresult.

    What to check?

    Thanks.

How long does gpresult take directly on the DC? How about the time it takes for running RSoP in logging mode from GPMC on the DC?

The issue you're having is almost certainly with the XP workstation itself. GPRESULT doesn't need a network connection to run if it's running against the local computer. It displays what's been applied and doesn't query any external resource (like the Domain Controller) to get the information.

So how much disk space, RAM, and CPU is allocated to the XP VM? If you up the resources (most likely the RAM) you'll probably see faster results.
