  • How do I enable SMB2 signing in a domain with "old" servers

This is what I speak of:

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/josebda/a...-and-smb2.aspx

By old I mean 2003 servers and XP workstations. According to the article, in order to enable SMB2 signing, one of the two "Digitally sign communications (always)" GPO's must be enabled. But it also seems enabling this will cause the "Fails to connect" scenarios to occur as per the last table.

    Thanks,
    Jaime

I reread the article and figured out my misunderstanding, please disregard this.

To answer myself, the "Fails to connect" scenario should only occur when 2003/XP signing is completely disabled on one side and required on the other. It is indeed disabled by default for "Digitally sign communications (if client agrees)" so this would be the main point of risk. Ok then.
