  • Setting up Folder redirection on 2003

have read through a few articles, and just saying create the GPO, and redirect eveyone to the same folder with a root path, and the system will create the user automatically.
Which isnt happening, and nothing is redireciting.
Also what needs to be set up the profile paths for the users. note , no roaming profiles are being used. Just straight folder redirect.

    All help appreciated.

edit - have seem to get it working, apart from start menu, doesnt seem to have a folder in there.

Also without roaming profiles in use , is there anyway or redirecting the favourites folder?

I haven't found a way... hence we are using roaming profiles!

Have not tested it, but the path for to the Favorities folder is stored at:
      HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\Shell Folders
      VALUE: Favorities
      TYPE: REG_SZ

Re: Setting up Folder redirection on 2003

Looks like taking a break from something makes it worth while! Got our favorites to work:

            Code:
            reg add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" /v Favorites /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /d "\\paris\staffprofiles$\%username%\profile\favorites" /f
Where \\paris\staffprofiles$\%username%\profile\favorite s is replace with your profile location.

Credit to the top link above (http://www.amset.info/loginscripts/ie-favorites.asp) - The reason why it didn't work before is the change needs to be made in USER SHELL FOLDERS not in SHELL FOLDERS.
