  • Unticking Adjust for Daylight Savings .

    Hello,

I've seen this has been discussed a couple of times.

I'm trying to untick the checkbox "adjust for daylight savings ".

I tried importing a reg. Key with the DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet=1
and i've watched the key being added on the computers through out the networks.
my problem is as soon as I use the CONTROL.exe line and call the right Timezone
the registry key disappears and the checkbox is ticked again.
I tried just leaving the registry key
and see if a 2nd restart helps, but alas , the problem remains .

I've also tried introducing a GPO with the proper template
as suggested in this in the forums ..
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Soft..._22445875.html

but that didn't change the setting as well.

    Thanks in advance.

    Nadi.

    Why would you untick it?

Well My DC has Jerushalem GMT +2 Time .
and when The stations throughout the network sync the time some of the station with the "Tick" gets the time right , only one hour forward , I can always go on unticking manually , but I was wondering if it could be done Auto magically..

Its probably because, you might be using the time on the server without the tickmark there. Please confirm if that is true!

Secondly, follow the link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387) to download and edit the incorrect time zone settings if the server is showing the incorrect time with the option tick marked. Moreover, you should get the right time if the DST option is enabled.

I expected the same. However few more questions for you.

            1. How many domain controllers?

            2. Which server is acting as the time server in the domain.

            3. Does the time server has the Tick in DST??

            4. Is the time server allowed to sync the time to the external time server properly?

            Reply back with the findings.

Re: Unticking Adjust for Daylight Savings .

The Win2k was acting as the time server,
I replaced the script to point to the w2k3 server and now everything works fine !
              Thanks !!

it's a little upsetting because I did try it before, only I did one restart instead of two
and the registry key didn't reflect until the 2nd restart.

              Thanks alot !

Good to hear that your issue resolved.

However, I would recommend you to use the tickbox on the server, which actually calculates the time zone / DST automatically and updates the same to the clients. Morever, the editing is only required on the server, and all the clients also need to have the check box ticked.

                Choice will be all yours.

You have to configure it correctly and that might give you some headace.
You have to enable "the Tick" everywhere, every server and workstation to make it work correctly. Also sync your NTP server to an Timeserver on the Internet (ntp.pool.org?) and you are done.
