  • need to disable Work Offline in IE

I need to disable Work offline in local GPO.
In very remote offices I have some thin clients not connected to domain. Locked down config with only 2 shortcuts to 2 sites with no buttons in IE.
Sometimes IE goes to Work offline. There is no option to go online. Only to login as Admin and make disable limits in GPO for IE. Login as client, put in online. Go back enable limits, etc.

In GPO Internet Explorer Offline pages I found:
    Disable offline page hit logging.

    Is it right option?
Or there is Disable Work Offline.

    Thx.
    Michael.

Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK) might help you out..

But did you read the description of the GPO settings you posted?

        Disable offline page hit logging.

As I felt before reading it will not affect Work offline.

Re: need to disable Work Offline in IE

I found the info for NT and 2000 (see below).
Unfortunately this key doesn't exist in XP. Should be another name...

For Windows 98, the "GlobalUserOffline" data value can be found under the following key:
          HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\InternetSettings

Under Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000, the key is as follows:
          HKEY_USERS\SID\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentV ersion\InternetSettings
