  • Disabling USB Disk with GPO W2K3 EE

    I have followed following link step by steup to block usb disk

    Still USB port is working on client machine. If you can put light on the points where I can make mistake. It will help me to solve the problem.

    I worked more on above. I am getting result in following manner.

    Now problem is first when I plug usb disk, it is working fine. But after this as I refresh policy or restart computer, usb disk will not work.

    But again if plug some new manufacturer usb disk, it detects.

    Pls help

      Still I have not received any reply to help me. But I will be keep waiting.

      Rightnow I have installed a fresh copy of Windows 2003 Server. As mentioned in article "Disable USB...", I have to remove permissions on usbstor.inf & usbstor.sys.

      I can locate usbstor.inf but usbstor.sys is not there in %windir%\system32\drivers. I know that if I plug any disk, I will get usbstor.sys at the location. Is this a right way to see usbstor.sys?

        change key permission
        right click > change permission > everyone 1 > deny

          I didn't get you i.e. on which file(s), I have to set this permission you mentioned.
