  • assigning software problems

    hi

I'm trying to assign a software using GPO.
I've added the MSI file to the computer policy>software.

when the client try to install, it says that it can't find the file.
I'm blocking "run" from start menu, could that be related?

when trying to browse from my computer address bar to the location of the
MSI file, it says access denied ( because of the blocked run )
is software installation works the same way?

    how to go around it?

    thanks

    Re: assinging software problems

Check the security permissions of your shared folder which conatins the MSI.

Make sure "System" has Full Control and Authenticated Users or Everyone has Read & Execute permissions.

I'm not sure if it will work with a hidden share (hidden$) but try not to make it hidden if it is.

      Hi

The permissions on the share are fine.
If the user goes to network location and browse to the shared folder,
he can run the file with no problems.
