  • Quick Launch not sticking due to Group Policy

We have copied our GP that we use to lock down our students with and relaxed it a bit. The original allows the roaming profile to display the quick launch which is set in the Mandatory roaming profile.

When a user with a 2000 profile logs into our XP machine it gets the quick launch. This user has the original locked down GP.

When a user with an XP profile logs into our XP machine the quick launch doesn't display but they can add it. This user has the copy of the GP with some items changed to relax the locking down (allowing Run in the start menu etc...)

This one is driving me a bit nuts. Any ideas???!!

Ok sorted it. The user that created the 2000 profile didn't have a GP applied to it at all (i.e. no restrictions). Done the same for the user creating the XP one and all is well. It was the Dont Save Settings on Exit that was doing it... but i had forgotten that we created that 2000 profile with an unrestricted user account!!

    Oh well!
