  • Policy to Turn Off Monitor

    Hi,

I am new to W2k3 Server management. I was looking at the configurations in the GP list which will allow me to turn off clients monitor after five minutes. Is there such a configuration in group policy that will do this trick to client computer or users?

Thank you very much and look forward to hear from you soon.

    Hi,

Have a look at this site, from where you can download an ADM file for free and add it to your existing templates.

If you are interested in more configurable power saving, take a look at Green Snapper: http://www.greensnapper.fi/component...mid,1/lang,en/ We recently deployed the program and it seems to work pretty well.

Also, if you install the new Windows Vista GPMC you can use the new Preferences settings to enable a power scheme for your client machines.

            Hello,

I don't know if you already found the solution for this question ( Power Management ).

If you don't want to turn to custom ADM templates or third party solutions though, you could also just write a startup script using powercfg

Hi gforceindustries, Thanks for the input. I tried the powercfg stuff and it work.

                Here's what i do: powercfg /x "scheme" /monitor-timeout-ac 5

so that the PC running that specific power scheme will power-off the monitor in 5 minutes of idle
