  • Problems blocking usb access through gpo

Hi everyone. I ran the adm file that I was given through petri in order to block usb access without blocking mouse and keyboard usb functions. I ran it through gpo. The computers are windows xp and most likely all of the workstations have already used usb devices. Some of the computers were blocked successfully but some of them weren't. Can anyone help? Thank you

If you could post a link to the article and I will take a look.

Re: Problems blocking usb access through gpo

I can see what the issue is. Any USB sticks that were inerted in to a computer prior to the policy being applied will still function. This applys to other memory sticks of the same manufacturer.

If you go the policy on the GPO and view the explanation tab, it tells you there.

Does this sound like your circumstances?

A workaround may be to uninstall the USB root drivers and restart the PC. That hopefully will then make the policy apply to all memory sticks from that point onwards.
