  • Setting Where Event Logs are Stored Via GPO

I'm working with a Windows 2003 domain, and I know about the registry settings mentioned http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315417/ . However I would like to handle this via the GPO. Does anyone know if and .adm file was ever done to handle this? I'd hate to have to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to.

If you export the key to a file, you can then run a script on a GPO to achieve the required setting. Hopefully, somebody can advise whether it is best to run as computer or user startup script and whether i am correct.

You might want to try RegToADM for a quick and dirty basic ADM file.

Then tweak it to your liking.

Out of Interest, why would you want to do that (Moving the event log files to a different location)?
