  • logon message for all computers in a domain

    Dear All,

Can u please help me define a GPO that will display a logon text message for all users logging into a domain via XP Pro and Vista Business OS. How will I have to modify the GPO to display a different message for OUs or groups?

    Thanks in advance

You could try editing this GPO setting. It's under Computer configuration >> Windows Settings >> Security Settings >> Local Policies >> Security Options >> Interactive Logon: Message text for users attempting to log on.

As far as applying it to differrent OUs... it's as simple as applying two different GPOs to two different OUs. Rather self explanatory. Or you could apply multiple GPOs to the same OU but use a WMI filter to only apply to computers that run a specific OS.

Multiple OUs each set with a WMI-filter is not recommended, it will slow down the logon process much.

Instead, you can use a GPO for the users, and configure a logon script to run. A vbscript can popup a message where the text is based on conditions - the user, computer or group membership.
