• The user "xxx\xxx" does not have RSOP data.

Ok, really baffled on this one so help is greatly appreciated.

I have one single workstation which will not apply Group Policy, this workstation and user are in the same containers as other users with GP successfully being applied.

On a gpresult I get this error
The user "xxx\xxx" does not have RSOP data.

Events 1058 and 1030 are logged each time policy application fails. I turned on UserEnvDebugLevel and heres some of the outpu after a gpupdate /force

It is specifically this workstation as other accounts return the same thing on that machine and apply GP fine on others.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you tried taking the machine off and then back onto the domain?

Re: The user "xxx\xxx" does not have RSOP data.

Hi rems thanks for your reply..

Thats the default domain policy and its being applied successfully on every other machine, machines in the same CN and that user on other machines.

Another strange thing I noticed is \\domain.local\sysvol cannot be reached on that machine.... permissions are fine as the user can open \\domain.local\sysvol when on another machine.... which leads me to question DNS, however dns suffixes are fine.

When you open one of the events with id 1058, can you see there is also a different domainname in the Description part:

              <\\different-domain\sysvol\DOMAIN.local\Policies\{31 B2 F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>

Nope, the domain recorded in event 1058 is the correct domain.

*bump still stuck on this one guys....

On the PC I noticed when logged in I cant browse to \\domain.local\sysvol\domain.local

Windows can't find the network path... however the user authenticates with the server ok on login... the dir is accessible from every other PC on the network. It has to be dns, but dns seems fine. I'm baffled, a reinstall of windows is not something I want to go through with this PC as it has a lot of old software and developing tools installed.

**Finally solved this one, had to reinstall the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper and all is working fine now.
