  • Issue with group policy not being applied correctly

    Hi,

We are running Windows 2003 SP2 on two DCs and are experiencing problems with part of a group policy not being applied correctly - namely the Internet Explorer Exceptions.

We have updated the Internet Explorer Maintenance, Connection/Proxy setting, exceptions user policy but these exceptions are not applied on logon / restart. However if we run gpupdate /force the policy is applied - gpupdate itself doesn't work.

We have used gpresult to check which policies are being applied and it looks like one computer policy (with the user section disabled) and one user (with the computer section disabled) are being applied. We can't find any trace of the old exceptions (the one which is being applied on logon).

So two queries; where is the old (out of date) list of exceptions stored and secondly, how do I ensure that the updated policy is applied?

Grateful for any assistance / advice

    Alison

Re: Issue with group policy not being applied correctly

We have just found the cause - one to be aware of though.

one of the logon scripts set to disable-ie-passwd-caching contained the old proxy override settings - so every time a user logged on this script was run.

So if you experience something similar be thorough in checking logon scripts out!
