    Hi Guys,

beside blocking each EXE on the Don't run specified Windows applications tab under User Configuration - Administrative Templates - System,
what is the best way to block games (those exe files built in)?

I noticed that most of the exe files are inside "C:\Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone\Windows"
beside deleting them (uninstall or whatever) is there a better option?

imo, that would be the easiest way to eliminate the gaming problem, yes...

it would be impossible to start a list of forbidden gaming sites, as the list is endless.

things like that are easily blocked by firewalls with pattern sniffers and a rating system, like a nokia checkpoint or a fortigate... (though i hate fortigate with a passion)

a proxy would function also, but that facilitates the need for another windows license and another server, which could get expensive. a firewall is simply placed between the "cloud" and the internal network...

Well, i am in a big new process of buying fortigate 800 firewalls in cluster, and installing squid cache proxy (two of them)

            Thanks & Regards

haha, well, that takes care of that!

one note of caution with the fortinet... hope you like upgrading firmware. they will release a new revision every month, and when they do, some updates will delete the config and profile settings you have worked hard on. so make sure you download the current config ENCRYPTED so you dont have to re-do your policies...

if the config isnt encrypted, then it skip the portion that is set up by you. had to learn that one the hard way... sucked.

Nice tip James. I am sure Retaliator will spring with Reputation Points after he does the first Firmware upgrade knowing that useful bit of info. Nothing like learning the hard way and then sharing hard gained experience. That is the Community Spirit that makes this site great!! Thanks James.
