  • Can you set XP Folder View settings through GPO or similar?

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good way...preferably with GPO...to do things such as untick the "hide extensions for known file types" box under TOOLS-FOLDER OPTIONS-VIEW in Explorer ..for all users?

    Cheers!

There is a way to make absolutely EVERY configuration change in the registry via Group Policy. What you have to do is create a new "Template" for the Group Policy Editor snap-in. Take a look at the template files already supplied with Windows Server 2003 and see how they're constructed; this will give you a clue as to how to put one together yourself to access registry keys not provided for in the default ones.
