  • Prevent printing multiple copies

    Hi, guys. Need your help.
    Environment:
    - 2003 AD;
    - 2003 print server with one printer, shared, HP2420;
    - 7 XPSP2 stations, that print to the shared printer. Users login with AD usernames and have roaming, non-mandatory profiles.

    Problem:
    I need to prevent users from printing multiple copies of the same job. Meaning, from the Print window, the COPIES field should be constant set on 1 (see the attached file).
    Can this be achieved by GPO?
    Is there any other solution for the issue? (Given the fact that there are only 7 stations, I am not "locked" to a GPO solution).

    TIA.

    Set the number of copies, then remove all but the print permission from the users may do it.

    What application are they using -- a macro may work better

      Re: Prevent printing multiple copies

      My users are printing from anything available on the computer.
      The issue is that we are using a software to monitor their printing jobs, and it does not recognizes multiple copies. If you send the same document twice, it will count the pages twice. But if you send 2 copies, it will count only once.
      I need a way to prevent the users from sending multiple copies...

        Which software?
        Have you contacted their technical support to see if they are aware of the problem and have a patch/plan to fix it

          Any software available: browsers, Office applications, mail applications, Acrobat Reader...

          Yes, we did it already. They said they are aware, and they are planning to solve it in their next patch. Yeah, right... Here in Israel we call this "after the holidays", like something nobody's expecting to be done...

            Sorry - which printer monitoring software are you using? If it is any good it should log pages printed, so each copy logs separately
