  • Block Background Changes

Hi, i have already used the SEARCH button, but that did not really help.
i prevented the display option on GPO, so users CAN'T change desktop via DISPLAY applet. but if they go to a BMP and Right Click set as wall paper it will still change the background.
Is not there a GPO to block that at all (Not via Active Desktop) ?
    Thanks & Regards

    Re: Block Background Changes

AFAIK i dont think it's possible to stop that.

Shourly if they reboot their PC at the end of the day it should go back to the normal desktop wallapaper?

The option with Active Desktop works, i set that to (NONE) background.

        Re: Block Background Changes

These are the only two options I know of.
The question is what exactly are you trying to achieve: no change at all? Or no permanent changes?

that a user CAN'T change background wallpaper.
i achieved that with Active Desktop GPO, but that worked fine on XP, not on win2k

Hmmmmm... That's something new... Is there anything else we should know?
I don't want to sound rude, but can you give us some more info? For instance, can you ask my question from the previous reply, regarding the changes?
            TIA.

It works on 2k for me. What steps did you take to determine that it does not work?

                  Re: Block Background Changes

                  Hi thanks for the replies,

on 2k there was just an error on desktop, i cut the link to that specific OU and left the GPO run only for the XP machines.
I can add a link or create a 2nd gpo for specific 2k, but i don't need it right now.

                  Thanks,

Okay, so does this mean you got what you need? If not, then you can tell us what the error message is and we'll continue down the road.
