  • applying drive maps with GPO

    Hi All,

I am new to 2003 so please forgive me if my questions are basic.

At my work we have a small network comprising of 1 domain controller and around 10 workstations which all use win xp pro sp2.

We are now looking to setup the network so that when a user logs on they are automaticly mapped to the shared folders that group requires.

We have setup groups for marketing, legal etc already.
Some groups will need drive maps that others shouldnt have access to so I have to ensure that only those with permission to access those shares will see them.

I have read through the forum here and have found that I am more confused than ever, some people are saying you must use gpo others seem to be saying use gpo to implement a vb script.

What is the easiest way for me to setup this scenario?

Any links for a beginner like me to get my head around this stuff would also be appreciated as I am really a total novice with how gpos are setup and implemented.

    Thanks in advance.

From my perspective i would use VBScript to do what you need.

Have search through the forum as i'm positive there are some example scripts that will help you get started.
