  • Logon script using .bat file no longer executes with GPO

    Basics:
    Server OS: Windows 2003 SP1
Server config: Domain Controller, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
    Clients OS: Windows XP SP2

In addition to .vbs logon scripts, I have one .bat logon script (a combined NET USE and XCOPY batch file with line switches) linked to a GP. The scripts have been running for about a year with no problem at all. Suddenly, about 10 days ago the .bat script stopped executing. I have made no changes whatsoever to either the script or policy, the proof being that all the other .vbs logon/logoff scripts execute correctly. The problem only affects .bat scripts. I have, of course, tested the script by double-clicking on it. It executes correctly. Also, if I assign the same .bat script under Active Directory >Users>[Username]Profile>Logon script and place the script in the NETLOGON folder, it will execute correctly when users logon to the domain.
As with the .vbs scripts linked to the GP, the .bat script is stored in \\myserver\SYSVOL\mydomain.local\Policies\{31B2F34 0-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\USER\Scripts\Logon).
My question is why just .bat scripts are affected? If GP were corrupt, then none of the scripts would work presumably.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    EDITED:

    1. Can computers access your .bat file, do they see it in shared folder

    2. Try copying .bat file localy to the computer and change
Active Directory >Users>[Username]Profile>Logon script from existin location to local location d:\folder\batfile.bat

I am not quite sure I fully understand your suggestions.
Could you please tell me a little more? (e.g. where exactly should I insert the command line)
      Thanks

        hello
i suggest you that you activate the userenv.log in client side
and make a boot at the machine.
can you find anything about your .bat in this log file

Re: Logon script using .bat file no longer executes with GPO

If you change the .bat extension of the batch to a .cmd extension, make that a difference?

Is it possible that the logonscript timed-out?
