  • Question limit a group to login to a specific computer

    Hi

    i found with the search function here in the forum that i can limit users to log in to specific computer/s via user Properties account -- log on to


    but how can i make this for a group? i have created a group and add some users and
    searched for this option but i did not found something like this available...


    enviroment
    domain 2003
    desktop xp

      hmmm interesting... but i mean the other direction not deny them to log on.

      how can i make them to just log on to the computers i decide? it seems to be to much configuration to maintain always where not to log on... would be better to decide here you can log on. is it some how possible? if its possible for a user there have to be a solution for a group... (i hope)

        Sure. In the same section there's the Allow Log on locally (or something like that) When you define this policy only the users specified will be able to log on so make sure you include the Administrators group. (IIRC it forces you to add the administrators group)

          i did not see such an option there... i have looked in the OU properties and in the group properties bit there is no option like that. only in the user properties...

            You do it through Group Policy.


            In a GPO, configure the Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment\Allow log on locally and add the group(s) and user(s) you want to be able to log on.
