  • PTR records for zones I do not have in reverse lookup

    Hello all,

Hopefully someone can help me with this. I provide hosting for multiple domains. Until now I have not had to worry about having multiple ptr records for multiple domains. Now I have one client for whom I am the dns and email provider that needs a proper ptr record in order to send bulk (solicited, receipts) to hotmail/msn which is being rejected as spam because I have no ptr for that domain.

All of the dns servers are windows servers. They would have their own non-public facing dns on their domain controllers. How does someone in my situation make records for multiple domains to one ip?

    Thank you in advance.

The public IP address the SMTP traffic exits to the Internet on is the one you want to setup the PTR record for.

Whoever allocated you the IP addresses should control the PTR records. You can have multiple entries for the same IP address but I've never seen it done before... not that I have much knowledge of being an email provider.
