  • DNS Question

Ok so I want users to be able to access the following without going outbound.

    dev.product1.domain.com - > 192.0.0.1
    dev.product2.domain.com - > 192.0.0.2

If I create a zone for domain.com, then when users access production urls like mail.domain.com they fail because I haven't created a A record for this.

Is there a way of creating a *domain.com zone, but only direct users if an A record exists, if it doesn't it will go outbound to an external DNS to resolve?

    Re: DNS Question

You can create a zone with a name like this "mail.domain.com" and just add a host record with no name (i.e. leave the top box blank so it uses the parent domain name).
    cheers

      Re: DNS Question

I currently have 7 zones to accomplish this but wasn't sure if that was best practice?
