  • Linux virtual machines wont register in DNS

    Hi,

We have a "VirtualBox" installed on one of our desktops (Linux) of our Developer.

Our Dev team using this "VirtualBox" to bring up and down virtual Linux Machines all day long.

We are using a windows 2008 R2 domain.

All Linux machines get an IP address from our DHCP, but there is no resolve from DNS .
Looking in the DNS I Cannot find these linux machines.

Once I add them manually to the DNS I see a resolve from when pinging their name.

    Your Help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Have you checked the DHCP settings?

Open DHCP on the server. Right-click the Scope and choose Properties, click the DNS tab and ensure that DNS updates from DHCP clients is configured appropriately.
