  • Clients not registering in Reversel lookup and Event ID 4521

Hello the community... some of my client computers are not registering on the reverse lookup zone I am running win2k3 on my DC, DNS is AD intergrated, allowed sucure updates only and allow replication all ADs on the FW lookup zone. My forward zone is fine, the problem is reverse lookup.Clients are getting IPs from a unix DHCP. Manually, I can add a PTR record of the client and it I can resolve using the IP afterwards, but now I have about 1800 clients which don't have a PTR record!! On the event viewer, it is all 4521 event ID, please help

Is the unix DHCP server configured to talk to the DNS server on the domain controller?

How you do that I have no idea (not being a unix person), but have you looked into that? Windows DHCP Properties has the option to 'Always dynamically update DNS A and PTR records'. I would think that's what you need to sort out.
