  • DNS Client on 2003

I have a machine(windows 2003) that can't resolve DNS, all the other machines on the network work fine, I've tried a million things. I humbly submit to any advice you might have.

Is this internal or external resolution?
Can you post an IPCONFIG/ALL from both the problem machine and a good one
What are you using as a DNS server?

        Re: DNS Client on 2003

Looks OK except for the missing DNS suffix, which should not affect name resolution anyway
        Have you tried IPCONFIG/FLUSHDNS ?
Did it suddenly start, if so, what changes were made on the machine
Do you have any other networking issues?

          Re: DNS Client on 2003

          ipconfig /flushdns did nothing

as soon as I say "I cleaned viruses off of it" are you going to tell me to reload the machine?

          the other issues are

I can't get to a share, even by ip, to or from this computer.

I can't get to RDP to or from this computer.

              Re: DNS Client on 2003

Add the DNS Suffix into your Scope Options.

Can you ping via IP address and via hostname???

Checked your HOSTS file for rogue entires?? Especially if you have had an infection of some sort.
