  • Windows 2008 R2 DNS Lookup with my external ip

    Hi
I have setup windows 2008 R2 with DNS intergrate, first I have some problem with forwarding, then I disable IPV6 working great for while. now I have some NSlookup Problem with some domain. I am able to nslookup with everyting fine. but when I lookup bl.spamcop.net is return with error.!!!!!!!!!!

    C:\>nslookup bl.spamcop.net
    Server: ahisd10.ahisd.net
    Address: 10.10.0.10

*** No internal type for both IPv4 and IPv6 Addresses (A+AAAA) records available
    for bl.spamcop.net

    C:\>nslookup yahoo.com
    Server: ahisd10.ahisd.net
    Address: 10.10.0.10

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: yahoo.com
    Addresses: 72.30.2.43
    209.191.122.70
    69.147.125.65
    98.137.149.56
    67.195.160.76

Then I use external DNS server IP lookup but then is all return with my external IP address.

    C:\>nslookup
    Default Server: ahisd10.ahisd.net
    Address: 10.10.0.10

    > server 66.90.130.10
    Default Server: ns2.lsn.net
    Address: 66.90.130.10

    > bls.spamcop.net
    Server: ns2.lsn.net
    Address: 66.90.130.10

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: bls.spamcop.net.ahisd.net
    Address: 66.90.255.8

    > yahoo.com
    Server: ns2.lsn.net
    Address: 66.90.130.10

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: yahoo.com.ahisd.net
    Address: 66.90.255.8

    >

all return with my subdomain yahoo.com.ahisd.net

I don't know why the external server would append your DNS suffix to it's DNS queries. Is the external server yours?

          Hi,

Do you have following options checked under TCP/IP advanced properties

Append Parent suffixes of the primary DNS suffix
          Thanks & Regards
