  • Strange DNS issue

Ive set up a Windows Server 2K8 R2 box at home, which is also my DC, DHCP and DNS server. What I am finding, is that a variety of websites fail to connect after a day or two. For example, I can no longer load BBC.co.uk, or Google.com, whereas sites such as Cnn.com and Yahoo.com both work fine. If I then clear the DNS cache, or restart the DNS service, they all work again. I have only informational events in the DNS log, and nothing obvious pertaining to this issue. Can anyone think of why these sites might stop working?

    Re: Strange DNS issue

According to the Official SBS Blog this kind of behaviour occurs when the DNS Server is configured to use Root Hints instead of Fowarders.
